Monthly Update #15 – Fernweh, Wanderlust…and no Christmas mood at all!

It happens every year in December: I feel overwhelmed by the Christmas season. Suddenly there are fairy lights and little santas everywhere – and of course somewhere „Last Christmas“ by Wham is playing!

This year it is even harder. It’s been only 3 weeks since Japan, which means I’ve been working for 2 weeks now – and this Wednesday is our Christmas party! But I‘m absolutely not in a Christmas mood, yet. I’m still stuck in a „late summer“ mood. I even have the feeling that I missed fall here in Germany. Before I left my apartment for Japan the tree infront of my window was still green…when I came back it suddenly had no leaves at all!

I’m still not here,
I’ve still not really arrived.

I’m rather „far far away“. I stroll down memory lane a lot: I think of our wonderful days in Japan and our last weekend in Hamburg – walking around the city and enjoying some life music in the evening.

And I’m already planning new experiences…Where should I go next year? By car through Mongolia, make a city trip to Hong Kong or rather go hiking in Kyrgyzstan? Or should I visit my home country Georgia? And what’s about our long planned family vacation in Mallorca?

I think I do not want to arrive. My wanderlust is just too big. I want to go far away, discover the world and enjoy life!

My colleagues at work do not make the situation any easier. So close to the end of this year, they are already planning next year, I hear questions like „Are you working at carnival? What about easter? Do you already know what you’re doing in August?“

And all this time I’m just wondering “ Where did all the time go?“

How about you: Are you already in a Christmas mood? How are you feeling right now?

Fun Fact: The first time I  heard „Last Christmas“ this year was in Japan! At a tiny Christmas market with only 2 or 3 cabins – and it was sooo unexpected, because it was still sunny and super warm, basically summer for me 😄

Eher in „Spätsommer“-Stimmung. Selbst den Herbst habe ich verpasst.

Ich bin immer noch nicht hier,
nicht wirklich angekommen.
Eher „ganz weit weg“.
